I’m shaping the neck of my new steel string guitar right now. This is all done by hand.
I start with chisels and a small plane, then switch to a rasp and different files and finish the job with different grades of sandpaper.
This takes a lot of patience and involves a couple of blisters and sore wrists. But at the end, I have a neck which looks and feels like a guitar neck which in the beginning was a couple of wooden pieces, which makes up for all the pain.
